Window Folders helps you organize, save, and reopen Chrome windows and tabs in a Folder structure.

Local-first data handling

Folder, Managed Window, and Managed Tab data is stored locally in your browser profile by default. Window Folders does not provide account-based sync in this release. JSON backup files are created or imported only when you choose an Export or Import action.

Runtime identifiers such as Chrome window IDs, tab IDs, and native tab group IDs are not stored as persistent workspace data or included in JSON backups.

Usage Analytics

Usage Analytics is enabled by default. You can turn it off at any time in Settings. When you turn it off, Window Folders removes its unsent Analytics queue, analytics client ID, analytics session state, and last successful-send state. Events that occur while Analytics is off are not sent later.

Analytics is sent from the extension to a Cloudflare Worker relay and then to Google Analytics 4 (GA4). The relay does not permanently store Analytics event history. Window Folders does not use Google Signals, GA4 User-ID, user-provided-data features, advertising, profiling, or data sales.

The extension records only these product events:

• extension_opened
• folder_created
• managed_window_created
• managed_window_opened
• managed_window_closed
• folder_windows_opened
• folder_windows_closed
• search_used
• backup_exported
• backup_imported
• extension_error

For extension_opened, the extension may also send these anonymous aggregate or setting values: system_language, folder_count, saved_window_count, unsaved_window_count, max_saved_window_tab_count, native_tab_group_count, theme_state, and exclude_native_tab_groups_from_save.

Data we do not send in Analytics

Window Folders does not send URLs, hostnames, page titles, tab titles, Folder names, Window names, Native Tab Group names, search queries, raw tab/window/group IDs, email addresses, Google Account IDs, Chrome profile names, raw errors, or stack traces in Analytics payloads.

Sharing and review

Analytics data is shared only with the Cloudflare Worker relay used to forward Analytics and with GA4 as the final Analytics destination. Window Folders does not sell data or use it for advertising, creditworthiness, authentication, or personalization. We do not perform human review of your workspace content for Analytics.

Changes

If this policy changes materially, the updated version will be published before the related release.
